1st Advent Sunday

November 28, 2010

We were invited to a family in our ward, the Nilssons. They put on a real nice program and lit the first candle.

Their youngest daughter was lifted up to light the candle.

4 Sundays before Christmas, the Swedes will light 1 candle and let it burn during the evening. This is called the 1st advent Sunday. They will do this each Sunday before Christmas. On the 3rd Sunday they light the first candle and then the next candle. By the time the 4th candle (before Christmas) is lit they are in stair steps.

After lighting the candle they then had a musical program

Neal was asked to sing “I’m dreaming of a White Christmas”
They loved him, he did a great job.

This is Brother Ronndahl.  He is quite the entertainer. He put on a top hat and had fun singing, with a little threactrical flare!

After the program we ate refreshments.
Sorry, I did not get a good photo of the whole table! They had Lucia Buns, sweet rolls, cookies, candy, little sandwiches (smorgas) and rice pudding. The picture next to the pudding is filled with yummy  strawberry sauce to pour on the rice Pudding.
